Samuel Murray, of 25 King Edward Street, Amble, Northumberland, was awarded the B.E.M. in the New Years Honours List of 1966. He had served 43 years in the coal industry; and for the previous 8 years had been Secretary of the Hauxley Branch of the N.U.M. and in 1939 had been Chairman of the Chevington Drift Branch of the N.U.M.
