A civil B.E.M. awarded to John Waugh, Shop Foreman, No. 9 Maintenance Unit, Royal Air Force

British Empire Medal, (Civil) G.VI.R., 1st issue (John Waugh) in Royal Mint case of issue; together with Northumberland Miners Welfare Medals (2), 25mm. dia., silver and enamel, hallmarks for Birmingham 1947, reverse inscribed, ‘Bowls League Winners 1948’ and ‘Bowls League Aged Miners’ Homes Cup 1948’, B.E.M. with slight edge bruising, good very fine and better (3) £180-220

B.E.M. London Gazette 9 January 1946. ‘Andrew (sic) Waugh, Shop Foreman, No. 9 Maintenance Unit, Royal Air Force.’

John Waugh was later employed at the Dudley Colliery, Newcastle. With original Buckingham Palace forwarding slip, named to ‘John Waugh Esq. B.E.M. 25th July, 1947’. With copied gazette extract.
