M.M. London Gazette 26 January 1943. The original recommendation states:

‘This N.C.O. was a Section Commander of the Carrier Platoon of No. 3 Company. While in the Knightsbridge Box this N.C.O. went out on every patrol and always showed a complete disregard for his own safety. On his return from one of there patrols his carrier received a direct hit and caught fire - nevertheless he drove it inside the perimeter to prevent it falling into enemy hands.

Again at Tobruk, he was driver of the carrier in which Sergeant Brown broke out and his devotion to duty, skill and determination, undoubtedly helped Sergeant Brown very considerably in brining back his two remaining carriers to the Battalion at Daba.

This N.C.O. has shown great coolness under fire, devotion to duty and great initiative on numerous occasions over a very long period.’
