1914 Star (4982 Pte. W. C. Dulton, 2/K.R. Rif. C.), very fine £40-50

William Charles Dulton - actually Dutton - a native of Birmingham, died of wounds on 14 September 1914, while serving in the 2nd Battalion. On that date, his unit attacked enemy positions on the high ground above Troyon, The King’s Royal Rifle Corps Chronicle recording the plight of some 15 wounded that came in during the night, all of whom had been shot in the legs and had crawled through fields under fire in pouring rain.
