Donald Brown was born in Stonehouse, Devon. A Carpenter by occupation, he enlisted into the Royal Navy as Carpenter’s Crew on 14 September 1898. Served on H.M.S. Monarch, January 1899-June 1902, being advanced to Leading Carpenter’s Crew in September 1901. Invalided from H.M.S. Doris in April 1908 suffering from pulmonary tuberculosis. He died in Plymouth, of the same complaint, on 9 December 1908.
