Stephen Brown was born in London. A Musician by occupation, he attested for the South Wales Borderers on 29 July 1882, aged 14 years, 3 months. He served initially as a Boy, then as a Drummer, serving overseas in the East Indies, January 1883-November 1893. He was discharged on the termination of his first period of engagement, 29 August 1894. With copied service papers and roll extract.
