Military General Service 1793-1814, 3 clasps, Fuentes D’Onor, Badajoz, Salamanca (John Collins, 30th Foot) extremely fine £1000-1200

John Collins was born in Shutley, Staffordshire and enlisted into the 30th Regiment at Strabane, Co. Tyrone, on 9 September 1805, aged 17 years. With the regiment he served in the Peninsula during 1811-12. He lost the use of his right eye due to opthalmia in 1814 and was discharged on 18 May 1818 being worn out with rheumatism deemed to have been contracted in the Peninsula.
