Naval General Service 1793-1840, 1 clasp, Syria (Geo. Smith); Royal Navy L.S. & G.C., Anchor type (George Smith, Ship’s Cook, H.M.S. Excellent. 20 Years); St. Jean d’Acre 1840, bronze but sometime silvered, the last good fine, otherwise good very fine (3) £800-1000

Sold with copy service record which shows that he served aboard H.M.S. Tyne from February 1821 till January 1824, during which time she was engaged against pirates in the West Indies. He served as Boatswain’s Mate aboard the Hastings during the operations off the coast of Syria, and received his Anchor type L.S. & G.C. Medal in June 1847, amongst the last of this type awarded.
