Russia, Order of St Anne, First Class sash badge, circa 1830, gold and enamels, 50 mm, in the typical style of Pannasch, the reverse with maker’s mark EP under the red enamel, the top ring with St Petersburg hallmark, lacking suspension loop but sewn to its original full dress sash, very small chip to reverse centre, red enamel almost entirely lacking from two obverse arms and one reverse arm, the badge otherwise good very fine and rare £400-600

Provenance: Sold by direct descent from Sir James Leighton, P.C. and Physician to His Imperial Majesty Nocholas of all the Russias, and Physician General of the Imperial Navy. This badge and the star in the preceding lot were the insignia worn by him.
