Distinguished Conduct Medal, G.V.R. (39928 Sjt. G. Jacobs, 47/F.A. R.A.M.C.) contact marks, therefore nearly very fine £200-250

D.C.M. London Gazette 26 September 1916: ‘For conspicuous gallantry during operations. When his stretcher-bearers were dazed by the intense shell fire he jumped on the parapet and with the assistance of an orderly carried the first case through the barrage. The other bearers at once followed his lead.’

George Jacobs was born and enlisted in Sunderland, Durham. He died of wounds in France and Flanders on 10 October 1916 whilst serving with the Royal Army Medical Corps. Sold with copied picture of recipient from
