Frederick Withey is confirmed on the roll as a Private Royal Marines aboard the
Virginie for her action with the Dutch frigate Gelderland, captured in the Western Approaches on 19 May 1808. Although 21 clasps were issued for this action, only eleven of these recipients have unique names.
