Thomas Holman was born at Worthing, Sussex, and enlisted into the 9th Lancers at Gosport in April 1894. He re-engaged in August 1906 and was posted to the 21st Lancers, receiving his final discharge in March 1908. Sold with copy discharge papers and medal roll, neither of which confirm the clasp for Paardeberg.
