Belgium, Belguim, Portrait photographS of King Albert I and Queen Elizabeth, c.1915. Mounted on a single piece of card in an ornate rectangular frame, crown above and royal cyphers in centre, self-supporting stand, 65 x 60mm; better than very fine, an attractive memento (£25-35)
King Albert (1875-1934) assumed personal command of the Belgian armed forces during World War I and is remembered, even today, for his strong leadership. He led Belgian and French troops in the final Allied offensive of 1918, but unfortunately was killed in a mountain-climbing accident at the age of 59
