Three: Staff Sergeant H. E. Brown, South African Native Labour Corps, late South African Veterinary Corps

Herbert Edward Brown enlisted in the South African Veterinary Corps in September 1914, being appointed a Sergeant in the same month. Having then witnessed active service in German East Africa, he transferred to the South African Native Labour Corps in November 1917, and was embarked for France, where he remained actively employed until September 1918. He was discharged back in South Africa in January 1919; sold with copied service papers.
