Pair: Landsman G. Cornish, Royal Navy

India General Service 1854-95, 1 clasp, Pegu (Geoe. Cornish, L.M., “Spartan”); China 1857-60, no clasp, unnamed as issued, very fine and better (2) £300-350

George Cornish was born at Stonehouse, Devon, in June 1831, and entered the Royal Navy as a Landsman aboard H.M.S. Spartan in July 1852, in which capacity he witnessed active service in the Pegu operations. And he was still serving in Spartan during the early stages of Second China War, before returning to Devonport at the end of 1857. Latterly a Domestic 1st Class, Cornish was pensioned ashore in December 1881.
