Waterloo 1815 (Benjamin Davis, 23rd. Regiment Foot, R.W.F.) fitted with replacement silver clip and steel ring suspension, traces of brooch mounting in obverse field, edge bruising and contact marks, otherwise good fine £1400-1600

Benjamin Davis was born in the Parish of Llandigray, Cardigan, and enlisted into the 23rd Foot at Sheerness on 29 August 1807, aged 23, for unlimited service. He served in Captain Hawtyn’s Grenadier Company at Waterloo and was discharged on 18 July 1826, in consequence of ‘severe rheumatism and of being worn out from long service.’ Sold with copied discharge papers.
