Peter Scally was born in the Parish of Kilmana, County Roscommon, and enlisted into the 5th Foot at Plymouth, Devon, on 6 May 1812, aged 30. He served in the Peninsula and in Canada and was discharged on 27 October 1818, ‘being affected with dysphorea continua which originated while serving in the Pyrenian Mountains in 1813.’ Sold with copied discharge papers.
