Egypt and Sudan 1882-89, undated reverse, 3 clasps, El-Teb, Suakin 1885, Tofrek (25012 Gunr. W. Gowens, 6/1st Sco. Div. R.A.) slight edge bruising and contact marks, very fine £300-350

William Gowans was born in Linlithgow. A Miner by occupation, he attested for the Royal Artillery at Newcastle-upon-Tyne on 11 October 1878, aged 20 years. With the 1st Brigade Scottish Division R.A. he served in Egypt, December 1883-November 1886. Received an accidental wound to the leg in May 1883. With copied service papers.
