Indian Mutiny 1857-59, 1 clasp, Central India (W. H. Matthews, 14th Lgt. Drgns.) minor contact marks, very fine

William Henry Matthews was born in Exeter. A Clerk by occupation, he attested for the 14th Light Dragoons on 14 September 1847. During the suppression of the Indian Mutiny he took part in actions at Dhar, Mundesore, Betwa, Jhansi, Kouch, Gollowlie, Calpee, Morar, Gwalior and Allepore. He was discharged having completed his period of service on 30 April 1860. With copied roll extracts. Medal mounted in a brass frame for hanging.
