15th King’s Hussars 1887 Pattern Officer’s Cavalry Sword, the 88 cm bright blade by Henry Wilkinson, London, (28904) with single fuller and etched with VR Cypher the owner’s family crest, initials RLA and unit title (15th King’s Hussars) pierced sheet metal honeysuckle handguard, wire bound fish skin grip, gold and scarlet sword knot complete with its steel scabbard, the scabbard with some dents at the end otherwise very fine condition £400-500

Note: Robert Lowndes Aspinall commissioned 2nd Lieutenant 1890, Lieutenant 1892, Captain 1896, leaves the regiment in that rank c. 1900. Aspinall won a DSO in the Boer War and was killed in action during WWI whilst commanding a battalion of the Cheshire Regiment on the Western Front in July 1916.
