Memorial Plaque 1914-18 (3) (Andrew Laydon; Charles Laydon; William Layden) note spelling of last, good very fine (3) £120-160

Andrew Laydon - two of this name on the C.W.G.C. list. Likely to be Private 12450 8th Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers who was killed in action in the Mediterranean. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Helles Memorial.

Charles Laydon - Private 26/1045 1/7th Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers, killed in action, France/Flanders, 31 December 1917. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial.

William Layden (note spelling) - Private 9322, 3rd Battalion Coldstream Guards, killed in action, France/Flanders, 14 September 1914. Buried in the Vailly British Cemetery, Aisne, France.

The above are believed to be the sons of Charles and Eizabeth Laydon of Byker, Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Informed that they had 13 sons - 4 of whom were killed in the Great War.
