Henry McKay was born in Londonderry, Ulster, lived at Oban, Argyllshire and enlisted at Kinlochleven, Argyllshire. As a Lance Corporal in the 1st Battalion Cameron Highlanders, he entered into the France/Flanders theatre of war on 12 November 1914. He was killed in action on 22 December 1914, aged 29 years. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Le Touret Memorial, Pas de Calais, France. Henry (Harry) McKay was the son of Mrs McKay, of 417 Bronson Avenue, Ottawa, and the late Sergeant-Major John McKay, R.F.A.; and husband of Margaret McKay, of Viola Cottage, Kinlochleven.
