The Leicestershire Yeomanry entered France on 3 November 1914 as part of the 7th Cavalry Brigade, 3rd Cavalry Division.

George Williamson enlisted on 23 February 1913 and served in France from 2 November 1914. He was discharged, being unfit for further service, on 16 October 1919, and was awarded the Silver War Badge. Despite this, he subsequently rejoined his old regiment and was awarded the T.E.M. by Army Order 66 of 1926.
