France, Maréchal Pétain, 1941, a uniface bronze plaque by M. Renard, standing figure of Pétain left, 75 x 59mm. Extremely fine and attractively patinated, very rare (£40-60)

Henri Philippe Pétain (1856-1951), leader of the fascist-oriented Vichy Government of unoccupied France from July 1940 to August 1944. After the War he was brought to trial and sentenced to death, but Charles de Gaulle commuted the sentence to life imprisonment
