Miscellaneous, Sir John Ramsden, Coming of Age, 1852, a white metal medal, unsigned, arms, reverse legend, 39mm (BHM 2472); Henry Irving, 1891, a bronze medal by L.C. Lauer, 60mm (BHM 3416; E 1769); Royal Lancashire Agricultural Society, a silver award medal, named (Awarded to H.M. Morris for Best Culture Exhibit…Blackburn, 1898), 44mm; Yorkshire Numismatic Society Diamond Jubilee, 1969, a silver medal by Vaughton, 45mm (cf. DNW 47, 1006); together with other miscellaneous commemorative medals (31), mostly British [35]. A few fine, but generally very fine, some better (£50-70)

Sir John William Ramsden, 5th Bt (1831-1914), b. Newby Park, Yorks, lived at Ferrybridge; MP for Taunton 1853-7, for Hythe 1857-9; Under-Secretary of State for War, 1857-8; MP for West Riding of Yorks 1859-65, for Monmouth 1868-74, for East Divn, West Riding of Yorks, 1880-5, and Osgoldcross Divn, 1885-6. Further detail sold with the lot
