BDW 15, 820); Lord Mayor’s Chaplain’s silver-gilt crosses, 1854 (2), arms, engraved (The Right Honourable Francis Graham Moon, Lord Mayor…presented to the Revd. Ed Graham Moon…Richard Hicks Esqr), both 53mm; State Visit of Napoleon and Eugénie to London, 1855, a bronze medal by B. Wyon, 77mm (BHM 2561; E 1496); International Exhibition, 1862, Entertainment Committee, silver-gilt badge, unsigned [by Sarl & Son], named (Sir Francis Graham Moon Bart, FSA, Alderman), 72 x 64mm (Allen SK-A020); Royal Entertainment Committee, Guildhall, 1863, a silver-gilt and enamel badge, named (Sir F. An exceptional and important group, extremely fine and extremely rare (£700-900)

Also sold with a glazed daguerrotype photograph, believed to be of Moon’s son, the Revd. Edward Graham Moon, recipient of one of the Lord Mayor’s Chaplain’s crosses from his father.

Sir Francis Graham Moon, 1st Bt (1796-1871), studied at Oxford University; joined Tingwells, printers and publishers, 1818; established reputation by selling prints of Landseer, Wilkie and other contemporary artists; councillor, 1832; sherriff, 1843; alderman of the City of London, 1844; Lord Mayor of London, 1854-5 and in this capacity received Napoleon III and Eugénie at the Guildhall in April 1855; cisited St Cloud as a personal guest of Napoleon III later in 1855, when he was created a chevalier of the Légion d’Honneur.
