Gunner Thomas Flannigan was born in Colne, Lancashire and enlisted at Acrington, Lancashire. He was killed in action France and Flanders 11 December 1917.

The newspaper cutting which accompanies the lot states that the award of the M.M. was made for ‘repairing lines of communication under a German bombardment lasting six hours.’
