Charles Marling Cartwright was born in 1862; commissioned as a Lieutenant into the Royal Irish Fusiliers 1881; transferred to the 20th Bombay Infantry 1883; 36th Jacob’s Horse 1886, which regiment he commanded 1907 to 1912; thanked twice by Bombay Government for services in Mekran and Lower Sind; served during the Great War and retired in 1920.
