R.); British War and Victory Medals (11659 Pte., Ches. R.) polished and with some edge bruising, generally nearly very fine or better (5) £180-220

J. Rimmer was reported missing in action at Osfontein on 7 May 1900, whilst serving with the 2nd Battalion, Cheshire Regiment. He subsequently rejoined his regiment, having the misfortune to be taken prisoner of war at Broederstroom on 6 March 1901, being released sometime later; he again went missing in action, this time at Glen on 23 April 1902, once again he successfully rejoined his regiment. The casualty roll records his service at Broederstroom and the Glen as being with the 8th Mounted Infantry.
