Board of Trade Medal for Gallantry in Saving Life at Sea, V.R., silver (Ernest Saunderson, Wreck of the “Edward and Sarah” on the 8th December 1895) contained in its gold-blocked fitted presentation case, edge nicks and handling marks, otherwise good very fine £400-500
Approximately 460 of these large silver medals were awarded between 1856 and the end on 1901.
H. W. Willis, skipper, T. Hewett, 3rd hand, and E. Saunderson, 4th hand, all of the fishing smack Amy, rescued the crew of the fishing smack Edward and Sarah, of Yarmouth, on 8th December 1895. All three men were awarded silver medals.
