Frederick Thomas Hale lived at Leytonstone and enlisted in London. He was killed in action on 21 April 1915 during the attack on Hill 60 at the Second Battle of Ypres. It was in this action on the night of 20-21 April 1915 that Second Lieutenant G. H. Woolley of the 9th Battalion gained the award of the Victoria Cross. Sold with copied extract from Ruvigny’s Roll of Honour, which includes a photo of him.
