M.M. London Gazette 13 December 1945. The recommendation states: ‘For continuous skill and voluntary exposure to danger beyond all call of duty as a Motor Section Leader. During a static period of filthy weather condition (January to February 1945) this N.C.O. continually volunteered to lead night patrols which were probing right among the enemy outposts, and because of his extreme value as a skilful Patrol Leader, his Company Commander had to finally restrain Lance Corporal Jackett from his desire to lead all night patrols.

Especially on the morning of the 20th of April, when his Company Commander had stormed the embankment overlooking Traghetto, Lance Corporal Jackett proved invaluable. He volunteered to go forward alone with his Company Commander to recce the Po Monti canal crossings. Fierce Spandau fire was coming straight down the bank and on crossing the road a party of the enemy were surprised and Lance Corporal Jackett herded them back to the company as prisoners of war. He then voluntarily returned despite continual sniping, to the crossings to cover the Company Commander, until the task was completed. This N.C.O. by his unceasing desire to undertake dangerous and difficult tasks, continually took upon himself responsibility beyond the call of duty. His Company Commander has repeatedly had to restrain himself from giving Lance Corporal Jackett every unpleasant task.’
