M.M. London Gazette 18 June 1917.

Private Rowland Simpson was born at Goole and enlisted at Blackburn, Lancashire. He was killed in action in France and Flanders on 17 October 1917, when the 9th Battalion attacked a position known as the ‘Harp’. The regimental records suggest that Simpson’s award of the M.M. was made for the Battle of Arras on 9 April 1917.
