John Craig Anderson was born in Jarrow, Co. Durham and enlisted at Newcastle-upon-Tyne. As a Gunner serving with the 9th Siege Battery, R.G.A., he died at Home on 6 September 1917, aged 33 years. He was buried in the Jarrow Cemetery. He was the husband of Edith Anderson, of 91 Walter Street, Jarrow.
