Army L.S. & G.C., E.VII.R. (2408 C. Serjt. F. Brittain, Suffolk Regt.) minor scratches to reverse, about good very fine £40-60

Frederick Brittain was born in Deptford, London. A Tailor by occupation and a member of the 5th Battalion Royal Fusiliers, he attested for full-time service with the Suffolk Regiment at Hounslow on 2 November 1888. With the regiment he served in Egypt, December 1889-February 1891 and India, February 1891-November 1904. Awarded the L.S. & G.C. (his only medal) by A.O. of April 1907. Sergeant Brittain claimed his discharge in November 1909. During the Great War he attested for the Norfolk Regiment in August 1914 and was appointed a Sergeant. Promoted a Company Sergeant-Major in December 1915; served with the Labour Corps from January 1918 and once more with the Norfolk Regiment in July 1919. Discharged being surplus to military requirements in December 1919. With copied service papers.
