Waterloo 1815 (John Shaw, 33rd. Regiment Foot.) fitted with original steel clip and later ring suspension, some edge bruising, otherwise very fine £2400-2800

James Shaw was born in the Parish of Masham, Yorkshire, and enlisted for the 33rd Foot on 3 May 1811, aged 21 years. He was discharged at Sunderland on 22 July 1816, in consequence of a ‘gun shot wound of left leg received at the Battle of Waterloo Sixteenth June 1815’. He died at Masham, as a Chelsea Out Pensioner, on 18 July 1868, aged 81. Sold with copied discharge papers and other research.
