Robert Reginald Howes was born in London, England, on 13 March 1893. A Boiler Maker by trade, he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve as an Engine Room Artificer in February 1940. Appointed to H.M.C.S. Naden, a shore base, where he was employed as an Instructor and advanced to E.R.A. 1st Class in January 1941, he died at the Naval Hospital, Esquimalt, B.C., in February 1942, aged 55 years; sold with extensive copied service papers and records.
