Frederick Critchley was born in Preston, Lancashire, on 10 March 1893. A Labourer by occupation, he enlisted into the 49th Battalion at Edmonton in January 1915, and was similarly employed as a member of ‘B’ Company at the time of his death in action during the battle of Regina Trench on 8 October 1916. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Vimy Memorial. He was the son of Alice and the late John Critchley of 110th Street, Edmonton; sold with copied service and other papers.
