Robert Michael (’Michall’ on medal) was born in Dunbarton in 1817. A Labourer by occupation, he attested for the 2nd Regiment at Glasgow on 5 October 1841, aged 21 years. He served in the East Indies for 3 years, 4 months and in the Cape of Good Hope for 9 years, six months. Awarded the South Africa Medal 1834-54. Discharged at his own request on 13 October 1862. With copied service papers.
