Ellis Morris was born in Woodford, Essex on 29 November 1890. Educated at Forest School, he was employed as a Surveyor. As an Acting-Bombardier in the H.A.C. he entered the Egypt theatre of war on 21 April 1915. Commissioned into the R.F.A. on 2 August 1916 and attained the rank of Captain. Demobilised on 23 May 1919. Applied and was accepted for enrollment into the Army Officers’ Emergency Reserve on 9 March 1940.
