Alexander Nimmo was born in and enlisted at Glasgow. Serving in the 2nd Battalion Highland Light Infantry he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 14 August 1914. He was reported missing, later revised as killed in action, on 7 November 1914, aged 20 years. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial. He was the son of David and Janet Nimmo.
