Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 1 clasp, Relief of Ladysmith (2478 Pte. W. Puckridge, Devon. Regt.) nearly extremely fine £160-200

William Puckridge was born in London. A Labourer by occupation and a member of the 3rd Battalion Royal Fusiliers, he attested for the Devonshire Regiment at London on 5 March 1889, aged 18 years, 9 months. With them he served in India, October 1890-January 1897. Transferred to the Army Reserve in February 1897, he was recalled to Army Service on 7 October 1899. With the 2nd Battalion Devonshire Regiment he served in South Africa, October 1899-January 1900. Puckridge was severely wounded at Colenso, 15 December 1899 (listed as ‘Puckbridge’ in published casualty roll) and was discharged at home on 4 March 1902. With copied service papers.
