A fine M.V.O. 4th Class group of fourteen awarded to Captain E. C. Denison, Royal Navy - late H.M.Y. Victoria & Albert

The Royal Victorian Order, M.V.O., Member’s 4th Class breast badge, silver-gilt and enamel, reverse officially numbered, ‘1305’; 1914-15 Star (Lieut., R.N.); British War and Victory Medals (Lt. Commr., R.N.); 1939-45 Star; Atlantic Star, clasp, France and Germany; Africa Star; Burma Star; Italy Star; Defence and War Medals, M.I.D. oak leaf; Jubilee 1935; Coronation 1937, these unnamed, mounted court style as worn; Spain, Naval Life Saving Society Medal 1888, silver, unnamed, mounted as worn, medals in damaged leather case, very fine and better (14) £1000-1200

Edward Conyngham Denison was born on 6 September 1888, the only son of Captain Hon. Henry Denison and grandson of the 1st Lord Londesborough.

After being educated at H.M.S.
Britannia he entered the Royal Navy and served as a Lieutenant-Commander in the Great War 1914-18. Between the wars he served as Captain of H.M.Y. Victoria and Albert and was awarded the M.V.O. 4th Class on 10 August 1931. During the Second World War he served as Commodore (R.N.R.) of Convoys, 1941-44 and was mentioned in despatches (London Gazette 3 October 1944) for his services as such. Captain Denison, R.N. died on 13 November 1960.
