Royal Military Academy, Pollock Medal, 2nd type, by B. Charles Hamilton Versturme, commissioned a Lieutenant in the R.E. on 24 July 1886; advanced to Captain on 10 July 1898. Adjutant to Volunteers, 5 November 1898-31 May 1899. By 1903, having taken the surname ‘Versturme-Bunbury’, he was commanding 3 Fortress Company, Bermuda.
