Kenneth Amber North was born on 12 July 1891 and was first commissioned on 18 January 1911. During the Great War he served in Mesopotamia, June 1916-April 1918, for which service he was awarded the Military Cross, and then with the E.E.F., April-October 1918. He attained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel on 30 August 1935.
