One Pound, 15 September 1825, no. 47555, Limerick, serial number and most of date entered by hand, stamped CANCELLED twice on front, several endorsements and dates, mostly on back (Pick –). Split and rejoined at centre, pinholes, spots of thinning and a 10mm tear in left edge, otherwise fine, rare (£800-1,000)

Limerick was one of four branches opened by the bank in its first year of business. These first notes of 1825 bear the place of issue at the left of Hibernia and Britannia, rather than the royal portrait which was included from 1826
