Duke of Wellington, c.1815, a box medal with double compartments, uniformed bust left, reverse 11-line inscription within wreath, 47mm. About extremely fine, rare (£80-100)

Usually found containing paper roundels inscribed with battles, this piece was clearly intended to serve as a double snuff box and, with a depth of 18mm, is considerably deeper than the standard Wellington box medal of this type (cf. BHM 885)
