Royal Navy L.S. & G.C., G.V.R., 3rd issue, coinage head (L.6642 F. C. Manning, P.O. Std. H.M.S. Pegasus) some contact marks, about very fine £50-70

The ship was in the process of being built as an oiler, when she was purchased on the stocks and completed as a seaplane carrier and was launched as H.M.S. Ark Royal. She served in the Eastern Mediterranean, 1915-18. In 1934 she was renamed H.M.S. Pegasus; converted to a catapult ship in 1941 and was sold for breaking up in 1946.
