First in maroon cloth, ALS from Percy Gardner, 12 Canterbury Road, Oxford, to a Mr Carter, 22 October 1917, and an Autotype price list for 1912 tipped-in; second in full maroon leather for Merchant Taylors’ School, being the Head Master’s Prize for Greek & Latin Grammar, 1906, gilt and blind, decorated and ribbed spine, a superb copy; others in publishers’ bindings £70-90

Provenance: Ex libris Alan Morris, some with his bookplates, additionally: first with signature of Charles W. Baty on first free endpaper, second with Merchant Taylors’ label naming the original recipient as R. McK. Wood (later an aerodynamicist at RAE Farnborough), fourth de-accessed from Hereford Cathedral School Library, with their bookplate, originally gifted to the library through the W.S. Marshall bequest, fifth ex libris Miss M. Kitson Clark
