D.S.M. London Gazette 29 May 1945: ‘For courage, skill and perseverance shown while serving in H.M. Ships Launceston Castle, Pevensey Castle, Portchester Castle, Calder, Aylmer, Bentinck and Manners, in successful operations against enemy submarines.’

U-1200, a type VIIC boat commanded by Oblt. Hinrich Mangels, was sunk on 11 November, 1944, 75 miles SSE of Fastnet, by depth charges from the British corvettes Launceston Castle, Pevensey Castle, Portchester Castle and Kenilworth Castle. All 53 hands were lost with the boat. Sold with further details.
